Off the Beaten Path

While much of the Ogden area’s offerings are clustered into neatly defined “districts,” there are some notoriously independent gems that lie just off the beaten path.

True to its “Notoriously Independent” soul, not every piece of adventure in and around Ogden falls neatly into boundaries on a map. This isn’t Disneyland. This is O-town.

Visitors will definitely want to check out a few of the following attractions:

The Ogden Nature Center provides one of the most unique and hands-on experiences for families. This 152-acre nature preserve and education center is open to the public year round. Visitors enjoy 1.5 miles of walking trails, picnic areas, tree houses, bird blinds and an exhibit of live birds of prey. Two of Utah's greenest buildings are on site to teach about sustainable structures. A unique gift shop is located in the Visitor Center. The Ogden Nature Center offers a wide variety of classes & workshops for all ages including art, photography, birding, wildlife in Utah, outdoor recreation, conservation, sustainability, summer camps and more.

The Weber River Bottoms in Riverdale boast a spaghetti bowl of trails that stay open later in the season than any other trail system in the area. It is also home to a popular disc golf course, early and late season golfing, a kayak park and a large section of the 26-mile centennial trail that circumnavigates the city of Ogden.

The Hill Aerospace Museum, located on the north end of Hill Air Force Base, houses hundreds of aircraft and exhibits spanning literally every era of flight. This family friendly museum is open to the public every day except Sunday, Independence Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Nearly 200,000 people visit the free museum annually and it is a stop that should not be missed.
