Fort Buenaventura
Built in 1846 by Miles Goodyear Fort Buenaventura is Utah's original and oldest settlement. Located on the Weber River two miles south of the confluence with the Ogden River the fort offers a wide range of amenities for outdoor recreation. Fort Buenaventura symbolizes a period of western history that was the transition from nomadic ways of the Indian tribes and trappers to the first permanent settlers in the Great Basin. the fort has authentic artifacts on display and hosts mountain man rendezvous re-enactments over Easter weekend. Facilities at the fort include camping and picnic areas, a canoeing pond and a replica of the original fort.
