January is Learn to Ski & Snowboard Month!

Long, long ago before I learned how to snowboard I disliked winter (gasp!) back then the cold weather just seemed to be against me.

My toes were always frozen, I was stuck inside for months, and when February came around, it wasn’t a new Valentine I wished for; it was that the famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, would not see his shadow, and early spring would head our way.

Then, I moved to Ogden, Utah, and my life changed. I decided to take a Beginner Snowboarding class at Weber State University. The class started in January and took me to Powder Mountain and some of the best lessons a beginner could ask for. After a bit of falling and coaxing from my coach, I took my first turns and was hooked. The next winter, I got my first season pass to Nordic Valley. Nowadays, if you’re fast enough, you can see me pointing down the Super G at Snowbasin Resort.

Ski Lessons in Ogden

Get on the slopes! All three of Ogden Valley’s resorts offer some of the most proactive ski and snowboard instructors. Many of them moved here for the snow, some are locals, and they are all eager to teach you something new. You can find everything you need to start skiing or snowboarding at each resort, and the best part…it’s affordable!

Snowbasin Ski Lessons

Snowbasin Resort has the best beginner package in town. To help promote accessibility to skiing and snowboarding, Snowbasin offers an incredible Learn & Earn Program. Ideal for those brand-new to skiing or snowboarding, the Learn and Earn program offers three full-day lessons, and participants are awarded a season pass upon completion. Snowbasin also offers terrain-based learning, adaptive sports lessons and anything that fits your style.

Powder Mountain Ski Lessons

Powder Mountain offers everything you need to start skiing or snowboarding. For $135, you will get rentals, a lift pass, and three hours of instruction. They also offer women’s specific clinics, snowboard-specific lessons and everything in between!

Nordic Valley Ski Lessons

Nordic Valley also offers a complete learning package with a lift ticket, group lesson and rental, all for $79! For parents who need daycare, Nordic Valley offers a full-day child lesson. They also host corporate groups, offer private lessons, and much more!
