How Local Businesses Came Together to Revamp a Beloved Ogden Building
At the heart of The Mercantile lies a spirit of collaboration and community pride.
Right in the heart of Ogden's Historic 25th Street, a team of small businesses came together to preserve a historic bus depot, creating a vibrant community hub while celebrating the city's past. Kaffe Mercantile, Roosters Brewing Co., and Beehive Cheese are introducing The Mercantile, a new spot at 2501 Grant Ave., offering great coffee and brunch in downtown Ogden.
Revamping A Historic Building
Originally opened in November of 1940, the Mercantile building served as the Union Bus Depot before transitioning into a Greyhound station. It's housed a few businesses over the years, but has recently sat vacant before being acquired and restored.
Through meticulous renovation and thoughtful preservation, The Mercantile pays homage to the Union Bus Depot while infusing new life into the space. From historically accurate paint colors to authentic Art Deco lighting fixtures, the interior of The Mercantile keeps its historic charm. Every aspect of the renovation, from the preservation of original architectural elements to the selection of period-appropriate furniture, reflects a commitment to authenticity and quality.
The inclusion of period-appropriate furniture and decor further enhances the space, offering visitors a glimpse into Ogden's storied past.

The Mercantile showcases the best of Ogden's culinary scene through partnerships with local producers like Beehive Cheese and Cafe Ibis Coffee.
